Josaphat series
a dialogue between nature and human frameworks

During the Covid confinement, the ordinary rhythms of work, commuting, and productivity abruptly stopped. Each morning before dawn, Mieke walked through Josaphat Park and began painting what remained when those structures disappeared: trees, light, silence, and the sensation of being temporarily released from a system that constantly demands motion. Starting from observation, she gradually layered geometric forms onto the landscapes. The paintings evolved into a dialogue between nature and constructed systems, between lived experience and the frameworks through which we organize the world.
